“Bringing the Vic back to the Village”
We believe a local pub and restaurant can offer a lot more than great service of drinks and food, therefore, we are keen to support our community where we take a proactive role in engaging in community initiatives and charitable work.
It’s our aim of being the heartbeat of the village of Walshaw and the surrounding area, it is important that we listen to the local community, our customers and our employees, who may suggest ways in which we can support. Some of the ways in which we aim to enhance the lives of those in the local area are;
1. Delivering work experiences such as Apprenticeships and local recruitment.
2. Fundraising for a local charity.
3. Providing one day per year paid for volunteering activities.
4. Donating food surplus to local food banks.
Other suggestions are also welcome and will be considered.
Our ultimate goal is to provide a positive impact within the local area where we encourage employees to regularly take part in volunteering/community projects.
Many of our employees are local and are members of the Walshaw community and so, what better way to build long-term relationships with others in the area through your work and volunteering.
EMPLOYEE VOLUNTEERING POLICY
The Company’s volunteering policy sets out its position on giving employees the opportunities to become involved in volunteering projects and take an active part in the local community. The Company encourages at least one day of volunteering leave per year where this day will be paid.
If you have an opportunity for us to further develop our involvement, or feel your organisation or someone you know could benefit from our work in the community please feel free to contact us.

Part of our vision at The Victoria, Walshaw is to be a Community Hub. Throughout COVID-19 We helped support the wider community, while still serving our new famous Sunday Roast deliveries and take away service, here’s a flavour of what we’ve been up to!
Supporting the NHS
Like everyone else, we’ve wanted to show our gratitude to the fantastic NHS. We are proud to have raised over £1200 to date for NHS Charities Together from the sales from our take away service. We have also donated various goodies to the staff and patients at Fairfield Hospital, including our famous fish supper and an iPad, enabling patients to stay in touch with their friends and relatives during this difficult time.
In addition to this, we’ve cooked and delivered over 1400 meals for local hospitals in conjunction with Meals for the NHS and welcomed frontline NHS staff, needing to self-isolate, to stay in our guest accommodation free of charge.
Helping those in need
Recognising the devastating impact this pandemic has had on so many members of our community, we have provided more than 200 meals in conjunction with Eat Well MCR, a crowdfunding hospitality collective set up to provide food to people in our area adversely affected by COVID-19.
We have continued to support our Charity of the Year, Annabelle's Challenge, the local based charity for Vascular EDS by acting as a collection point for their “7 Sack Challenge”.
Celebrating with our community
Although we couldn’t be together, we felt honoured to be able to celebrate VE Day with our community. Our Virtual Music Matinee held over Facebook was a great success and 75 Cake Selections were distributed to care homes, veterans and to those who are socially isolated to help them feel part of the celebrations.
As well as supporting our community through this unprecedented time, our community have been there for us too – huge thanks go out to everyone who helped us to decorate VE Day bunting to decorate the outside of The Victoria and to each and every customer who has supported us by using our take away and delivery services.
Helping our Community During Lockdown
Here at The Victoria, the local community is at the heart of everything single thing we do - being there for our customers is what we love and what we do best. Whilst we’ve missed welcoming everyone to our usually busy bar and restaurant, being together in spirit has really kept us smiling through these difficult times.

The general public can access the devices by obtaining the code from the emergency services or the number on the cabinet. They could also be used by the emergency services, such as first responders and the air ambulance. There is no charge to anybody needing to use either piece of equipment. They are there for the public in an emergency; they are simply there to help save lives.
Annual Christmas Light Switch
Each year we light up the Village of Walshaw.
This year we created our own Christmas Markets, with outside food being serviced by our head chef Haydn Driver, which went down a treat...
